Milkman Lunch Co. & Cake Shoppe Gives Back to the Community

There are some things in life that you look forward to with a sense of excitement.  High on my list is a visit to the Milkman Lunch Co. & Cake Shoppe on North Charlotte Street in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.  I have a mental countdown clock running of how many days/hours/minutes remain until my next visit.  Breakfast, lunch and baked goods extraordinaire are served in a warm and welcoming environment.

On a recent visit, co-owner Chris Longeway generously donated a dozen artisanal cupcakes for the silent auction to benefit the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities.  Someone is in for a real treat!

Chris refuses to waste food, so wanted to know if he and fellow owner, Sam Rhame, could donate their unsold baked goods to the Cluster to benefit those in need.  He explained that his father was a chef and caterer.  Growing up in the industry, he saw a lot of food go to waste.  He wants to see that change.
He was also inspired by his experience playing Little League baseball.  Each team was sponsored by a local business, with its name printed boldly on the back of the uniform shirts.  Even at an early age, Chris liked the sense of community offered by the involvement of local businesses and knew that, someday, he would do the same by giving back.

Now, Milkman Lunch Co. & Cake Shoppe is the Pottstown Cluster’s latest local merchant to help by donating food to the Food Pantry.  Thanks, Chris and Sam!
